How good of a connection does your wireless internet have to be for you Xbox Wireless Router to pick it up?

I have the Xbox Wireless router and I pick up good wireless internet from my neighbor on my IPhone. But the Xbox router says no connection when I try to connect to xbox live. Why?
Depends on your proxy service, or the wireless internet type. Ipods and iphones can pick almost all wifi waves to use. Xbox 360 is very picky. I think the service is wlan, not sure (may have to look up). The only way to change the type of wifi is through the personal computer router and computer.
